This reminds me of when Michael and I were taking yoga from a sweet lady named Jan, and my god was she a stretchy woman. Anyway, the sessions were in the basement of some random church in campus town organized by the YWCA. Tons of older ladies… and then 20 year old Michael and me. So we’re either in child’s pose or just lying on our backs, I don’t quite remember, but as we were meditating near the end, you know, breath deep and release, a lady a few mats over just ripped one solid. Now of course, any and all effort to relax was completely lost due to the almost overwhelming task of suppressing our laughter. Maybe it was the quiet christian atmosphere down in the bowels of the church or maybe I was drawing from my rug-sweeping Presbyterian upbringing, but some higher power helped me to control my hysteria.

The life lesson I ultimately learned from this experience was that sometimes the elephant in the room is as small as a tiny gust of wind and all you can do is let it waft on by.

Quite an old commercial, seeing as it’s for pagers, but still a classic in my mind. And if you are still rockin’ a pager, you deserve to be locked in a sealed car with this woman. “All right Janis!”
